backing store option

Hello,

I have ported some rather old graphic X11 programs to the Mac. Unfortunately,
the contents of the windows get erased partly after they were overlapped by
another window.

I had the same effect under linux - until I included the option

Option "Backingstore" "on"

in /etc/X11/XF86Config.

I cannot find such a file on my Mac, nor can I find something equivalent.
I am quite sure that there should be some way to fix this, at least
a "xdpyinfo" gives me the information that the option "backing-store"
is set to "no". How can I set it to "yes" ?

Any help is appreciated.
