OS X Server and KDE

Has anyone else had trouble getting KDE up and running on OSX Server 10.2.4? It compiles fine, thanks to fink, but I don't get beyond the splash screen. (KDE 3.1 and 3.0.7 both exhibit similar behavior, only 3.1's splash screen is nicer)
