My guess is that some script somewhere on your systems launches gimp at X
startup. Some possible suspects are:
- the global xinitrc (unlikely)
[blighty-1:~] maxw% sudo find / -name \*xinit\* | xargs fgrep -i gimp
fgrep: /private/etc/X11/xinit: Is a directory
/private/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc:exec gimp
fgrep: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit: Is a directory
[blighty-1:~] maxw%
Taking out that line seemed to fix it. Quite how it got there in the
first place, I'm not sure. I blame an install of OroborOSX...
Thanks!
Max.
- ~/.xclients (sometimes used instead of the .xinitrc/.xsession combination
- if you're trying to use Gnome or KDE, they might have stored the session
state with gimp. Look under the ~/.kde or ~/.gnome (or .gnome2) subdirectories
of your $HOME, provided they exist, of course.
Hope this helps!
