A colleague has just noticed that when working on Matlab

^ is not recognised. So you try and type `x squared' as `x^2' and get
`x2'. Not good!
Does anyone know if this is x11 or matlab? Other applications don't
have
this problem such as xmaple.
Has your colleague tried hitting caret twice?

PS Does nobody have any *ideas* why ctrl-C in Matlab would log me out
of OS X?
