Hi,
You might try some other opengl application (if you have them loaded on
that box), for example :
IRIX $ cd /usr/demos/General_Demos/tex_cube
IRIX $ ./tex_cube
that works fine from my IRIX box to my laptop.
You might also try some other pure X application, for example :
IRIX $ xconfirm -t 'this works OK'
These tests should tell you if it's an X only, OpenGL only, or Insight
II only problem. Both the above work fine for me, so, if there is a
problem with them, then it is a comms issue, not an OpenGL or X issue.
You might also run this on your IRIX box :
IRIX $ elfdump -Dl `which insight`
(note backticks, not quotes) and let us know what libraries that
application uses.

I don't understand what is going on. It is because Macs are unable to
support heavy OpenGL duties?
FYI, the same thing happen when I try to export onto a PC running Linux
too. I could only do exports on other SGI machines. Why?

ps: other softwares like Xclock could run. All but Insight II, so I
don't think it is due to firewall issue like what I read in various
thread....unless if I missed something...
