Preston,
I found much the same thing. So I removed selected arguments from the
xterm command line and found it didn't like the -sl 65535. Still
playing with it. a plain xterm invocation works. sloughing through
ktrace to see what fails. looks like it's not able to allocate memory.
Using tcsh.
