I have had all kinds of problems with IDL and beta 3. (I made a
previous post about it ... but no response yet). I have since
asked a few others (who are not on the list) if they are also
having trouble with IDL + X11 beta 3 and it looks like we are not
alone.

Go back to the previous beta release. IDL worked perfectly
with the previous X11 releases.

the only one having trouble.
