I'll wager that this problem has nothing to do with xterm. I noticed
it a few weeks ago, and it persisted at random times. Note that I have
never executed xterm. Note, also, that I haven't seen it in a few
weeks, and I use X11 for about 15 hours a day.
Here's a list of programs that I have seen it happen with:
eterm
emacs (with a display set, so it opens in an xwindow - I replaced the
Apple version that doesn't seem to allow this - the one Apple sends is
old anyhow :-)
gimp
abiword
We can stop looking at it as an xterm issue, and I like this newer
monicker: flash.

I'm not having troubles with xterm, but several times now I've started
xemacs and had it come up fine -- that is, the window opens and the
startup screen appears -- but then go away when I try to do something.
The last time, and perhaps all the times it happened (2 or 3) I tried
to read netnews using gnus -- it brought up the list of groups, but
when I selected one, xemacs disappeared, with no crash information.
When I restart it, it works fine.
Anyone else seen this and/or have a clue?
