Does the command `xemacs -vanilla' lead to a similar crash?
Either way tryu sending a Bug Report to the XEmacs development team.
Start XEmacs; issue the following command:
M-x report-xemacs-bug [RET]
enter your bug report subject
fill out the bug report form.
Known problems with XEmacs 21.4.x on Mac OS X include
display crashes (ncurses libraries were a problem at one point)
problems with X widgets (not finding the libraries, crashing on clicks,
&c.)
problems with stack size (Mac default is 512K; 8M is the suggested size for
XEmacs)
some GC problems depending on compilation configuration
Other problems you might have that some people see
lisp shadows for byte-compiled files
dynamic libraries in an unexpected place (or shadowed libraries
in the path)
Many folks on other systems have reported problems with binary distributions
unless XEmacs was compiled on systems that were practically
identical--especially with the 21.1 and 21.4 branches. I think a lot of
these have been fixed in the last six months or so.
email@hidden is a pretty active list. There is a push to get a
working Carbon version for Beta release by April. I prefer the X-based
XEmacs because it looks like every other XEmacs, and I'm too old to learn
new names for old commands *8^)
