Hello:
OK, I know I'm supposed to be able to figure this out, but I can't. I'm
probably missing something simple...
System is 10.2.[3|4|5|6]
X11.app is b3 with the b3 SDK installed.
Start with clean system + X11 + X11 SDK.
Install Fink (tried both 0.5.1 and 0.5.2)
apt-get install system-x11 (placeholder for using X11.app)
apt-get install bundle-kde-ssl (currently 3.1, I previously tried 3.0)
Launch X11.app. Preferences under the 'Security' tab have been tried in
all possible combinations, with no effect. Allow connections from
network clients + ! Authenticate connections SHOULD be the most permissive.
Launch [Terminal.app | xterm] and execute the following, which fails as
shown:
---------
Last login: Wed May 7 08:21:28 on ttyp1
Welcome to Darwin!
bash-2.05a$ export DISPLAY=:0.0
bash-2.05a$ source /sw/bin/init.sh
bash-2.05a$ startkde
startkde: Starting up...
kdeinit: Launched DCOPServer, pid = 626 result = 0
iceauth: creating new authority file /Users/llaughridge/.ICEauthority
iceauth: /tmp/dcopdRPKgU:1: bad "add" command line
iceauth: /tmp/dcopdRPKgU:2: bad "add" command line
DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Authentication Rejected,
reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported
and host-based authentication failed
ICE Connection rejected!
----------
The 'Attach failed...' repeats about 5 times as various DCOPClients try
to fire off and bind to the DCOPServer before the start script fails.
The DCOPServer will not start up. Invoking it manually produces the
same result. Without DCOPServer, no KDE app will launch. (DCOP is
KDE's interprocess communication. Think of it as their version of
AppleEvents.)
I've even tried invoking 'xhost +' prior to trying the DCOPServer.
The Fink people suggested things I'd already tried, like
removing/touching .ICEauthority and .Xauthority, and then basically said
that it works fine with XDarwin, so it must be an X11.app problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
