Francois,
Sorry, I should have mentioned that I am running Jaguar still on my PB.
(I don't dare upgrade to Panther until the Firewire disk issues are all
solved. I have a 200 GB disk with no backup yet.) It is great to hear
that Panther is smarter about missing servers. I didn't know that was
one of the new features.
Under Jaguar, the manual "umount" command that Bruce Truax describes
also does nothing (or hangs the "umount" process).
Cheers,
++Eric

Eric,
are you running Panther or Jaguar ? I use to have similar problem with
Jaguar (NFS mounts were even worse than SMB), but now it's gone with
Panther. With Panther, if you forget to disconnect a mount and go
away, you'll have a pop up saying something like "serve X does not
respond anymore, would you like to disconnect it?" when your computer
wakes up back home. Handy. And it works. No hangups anymore. Even
works for NFS mounts, which is great.
