I encountered the same problem and found the same workaround as you
did. I received Panther today and will install it very soon. You'll be

I'm still using MacOS 10.2.8 and X11 beta 3 - haven't really had a
reason
to upgrade quite yet. :)
However, one problem I've hit is that when you have X11 running and you
plug in a second display (spanning, not mirroring), X will most of the
time (either instantly or after a few minutes) put a barrier up for the
mouse. ie, when X is the active app your mouse is only able to move so
far
before hitting this "barrier". You then either need to click out of X
so
it's no longer the active app or restart X to be able to move the mouse
beyond the barrier.
Was this a known problem and was it fixed in the final release in MacOS
10.3?
