Hi,
I'm trying to use my Mac (shark) as an X terminal connected to my Linux
server (safe).
[shark:~] apete% X :3 -query safe
XFree86 Version 4.2.1 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600)
Release Date: 3 September 2002
If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your hardware is
newer than the above date, look for a newer version before
reporting problems. (See http://www.XFree86.Org/FAQ)
Operating System: Darwin OSVendor
_XSERVTransmkdir: Owner of /tmp/.X11-unix should be set to root
PseudoramiX screen 0 added: 1600x1002 @ (0,22).
PseudoramiX screen 0 placed at X11 coordinate (0,22).
[DRI] screen 0 installation complete
Screen 0 added: 1600x1024 @ (0,0)
XDM: too many retransmissions
XDM: too many retransmissions
XDM: too many retransmissions
XDM: too many retransmissions
The login screen never appears. My guess is that something is wrong on
the server - but what?
On the server the file /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config contains:
DisplayManager.requestPort: 0
(to manage X terminals with xdm)
and /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess:
*
(any host)
I'm using SuSE Linux 8,2 and Mac OS X 10.2.8 with the latest available
X11 beta (downloaded a couple of days ago).
/Anders
