Interesting thought.
Although the selection clears, the copy doesn't necessarily vanish off the
clipboard, and it's that latter effect I'm really concerned about: I'd
hope the *copy* stayed around, and a first play with `top -s 10` suggests
that it does (at least sometimes).
I don't know about pine's habits regarding updating the screen, I suppose
I could ask on the pine mailing list. I'd be somewhat surprised if it was
in the habit of gratuitously redrawing the entire screen: I've never
noticed it doing so.
Incidentially, the "all windows drag at once" effect happend while I was
responding to this e-mail. I created a new window, dragged it into
position: and all four of my X11 windows moved at once. I have two xterm
windows (with ssh shells), one emacs and one xdvi window.
