And where would I locate xemacs. I can type "emacs" from and X11
terminal window and it starts, but when I type "xemacs" I get "command
not found."

I suggest that possibly you are not using xemacs. emacs probably
doesn't support mouse control.

I have never had a problem bring up emacs, but I have no mouse

Suggestions, anyone?

Hi!
I had the problem to make emacs run in an X11-window but with your
helpful hints it has finally succeeded.
1. I installed Fink.
2. I installed first xemacs then emacs21 but both failed because the
installer disliked my current X11!
3. I managed to remove X11 manually.
4. Then I tried the emacs21 installation again. And it appeared to
succeed; anyway there were no alarming error messages. It also
reinstalled an XFree86.
5. However XFree86 (X11?) could not start. There where errors in an
initiating script:
/usr/X11R6/bin/startx: line 49: syntax error near unexpected token
`'''
/usr/X11R6/bin/startx: line 49: ` XCOMM '' required to prevent
cpp from treating "/*" as a C comment.'
6. In despair I turned to Jaguar setup disk 3 and reinstalled X11.
7. Now X11 started up.
8. And behold! Now even emacs could be started in a separate window,
and it responds to mouse clicks and everything works nice!
9. Now I intend to install guile ...
