In what sense does your program require ssh tunneling? All ssh
tunneling does is send data over an encrypted channel instead of an
open socket. Do you mean it requires a continuing X connection? If
so, this can be done without tunneling, although it will then be
considerably less secure (malicious entities can listen to your traffic
over an unencrypted channel).
At any rate, the fact is that if you require an ssh tunnel (which I
doubt), then when the ssh connection which establishes the tunnel is
closed, your tunnel goes away.

Thank you all for your prompt replies. I have tried all of the methods
except for the VNC one. They dun really work as I am running an X app
which requires SSH tunnelling and once I closes SSH, the remote X app
inexplicably terminates also. Any ideas? Thank you all once again for
your time.

place the task into the background. There are possibly two different

Another simpler way to start the process in the background if you
