Java Apps run Very Well on Panther. The Java engine is very good. My
limited experience has no problems so far.

Have you tried the Java translation of OpenOffice , NeoOffice/J . It
is a java app that runs under aqua and it woks fine for me over the

Forget it.
The installer assumes it is being run on OS 10.2 using the default

install steps fail silently.
The current community of Mac OpenOffice gurus all seem to use OS
10.2, so
don't expect a 10.3 install any time soon.
