Dear all,
I am having some trouble inserting characters into X11 applications
from the Character Palette and I am hoping someone might have a
solution for me.
I can display the Character Palette either with the "Special
Characters..." item from the Edit menu or from the Input Menu. I can
insert characters into Mac applications but not into X11 applications.
When I try to insert into X11 applications nothing happens--no error
messages or beeps. I have tried these X11 applications: xterm, GVIM
and Gaim. I am wondering if there is a setting that I need to turn on
to enable input from the Character Palette.
See
<http://bfwiki.tellefsen.net/index.php?
pagename=TypingJapaneseUnderMacOSX>, there's
an explanation of how to do it with bluefish, kinput2, and canna server.
Only canna server is available to Mac OS X as far as I know (hopefully
I'm wrong).
You may also enter the text in Mac OS X, then open it in bluefish, it
works (for those languages which need a special server not available).
You can also enter Russian with roman characters, etc...
