It's faster and easier to install an other Windowmanager and modify
.xinitrc. By the way: before aquawm I used IceWM (it is not so big than kde
...)
You have only to copy /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc to ~/.xinitrc and modify it by
exchanging the line
exec quartz-wm
By the newly installed window manager
