Just a guess, you should check other things, but the Sybyl license might be set up to deny access when not logged in at the console (SGI). I have seen just this setup in the past. Theoretically done so the SGI doesn't bog down with many Sybyl jobs running simultaneously from remote connections. Check with whoever admins the Sybyl install on the SGI.
