I'm running Afterstep 1.8.0. Somebody ported it to OS X back in 2001
or so, and made it available with a ".pkg" installer. This was
separate from fink or Darwin Ports. I also have a ".dmg" file for
version 1.8.11R2, and I believe I'm using it on another machine. I
have tried downloading source code for version 2 from the Afterstep
website, and installing per instructions. Last time I tried this it
would run, though with some strange behavior, if I remember
correctly. So I've decided to stick with 1.8 for as long as it
continues to run.
What version of Afterstep are you attempting to use?

Can anyone help me with installing and running AfterStep in X11 on
my iBook running 10.3.8.
I've downloaded Darwin Ports and from there installed AfterStep.
I've added 'exec /usr/local/bin/afterstep' to my .xinitrc file in my
home directory but AfterStep doesn't start when i load X11. I get
no error messages in the console and when i start X11 the screen
turns grey with a mouse pointer and thats it.
I've copied the files and directories in the
/usr/local/share/afterstep directory as i was getting an error about
the system not being able to find the menu directory!!
I've looked all over the web but can't find any sort of dummies
guide to these sort of things so would appreciate any help you can
give.
If you need any further information please ask and i'll try and answer.
Thanks
