That used to be unreliable in the pre-Tiger days, but (hope beyond hope)
perhaps Apple silently made it reliable?
Rich Cook's suggestion of copying some text in an Aqua app first was what
I used to do a long time ago (before the copy-primary-selection trick),
but it no longer works for me with Tiger. Neither does Christian Nyb?'s
suggestion of using kill-ring-save (M-w). (I'm using xemacs 21.4 patch
17 and 20.4--are these known to be buggy somehow?)
Rich, are you running Tiger?
So it looks like I just have to hope that Edit->Copy actually works now.
Edit->Copy would be my preferred solution, since it preserves the cmd-c
shortcut that's hardwired into my brain from working mostly with Aqua
apps.
