I made a test install of Tiger on my powerbook (12", 1 GHz) as a warm-up test before upgrading my G5 at work, and there is an issue with Vis5D+ visualization software. The main thing that does not work properly are colored contoured slices, which appear as a psychedelic fanshaped pattern and nothing like what it is supposed to be.
A screen shot can be seen here: <http://cimms.ou.edu/~mansell/screwyvis5d.png> The view on the right should look like radar reflectivity of a storm, but obviously it does not. (My homepage, below, has some normal images.) 3-D isosurface contours still work fine.
Since I did an archive & install, I have tried putting back the old X11R6 directory and the old X11 (1.0) from Pather and recompiling Vis5D, but the problem is still there. So I don't know if this is actually an X11 problem or something else with the video. Vis5D uses GL for at least some of the rendering, I think
To John Pell: can you share any details about getting the Xorg 6.8.2 working on Tiger? I got it compiled (with help from my G5 panther system), but X11 does not start at all.
