putting X to sleep

Hello everybody,

I recently discoverd, that the battery of my powerbook with lots of RAM runs considerably longer (about 35%) without x11, eg. when less stuff needs to be held in RAM. Sometimes I dont need X (and all the RAM), but more battery time. Rather then quitting X, I would prefer just interrupting it, e.g. by putting the Xsession to the hard disk without quitting it. Is there any way to do that? (Energy saving preferences are already set to longest battery life)

(Xdarwin 1.1.1.1 on 10.2.8)

Thanks,
Joe
