Don,

Good suggestion, but still no cigar. There are two app-defaults directories
on my Mac. One in X11R6, and the other in /usr/local/lib. Placing Ddd in
those directories didn't fix the problem.

I have joined the ddd list and posted the question there. I'll post here if
the solution is interesting.
