I don't know what causes it, but I get the 1/2 second xterm window
problem quite frequently.

Hi.. Does anyone have any idea about this?
I was trying to install GTK+2, and I kept getting an error that x11
was missing
the libXinerama.1.dylib library, and I read on a forum somewhere
that someone
else was getting the same error and they were told to reinstall X11..
so I did just that.. I put in my tiger disc and told it to install
x11.
and ever since I did that, everything has been really screwy..
First all my dircolors were wrong, and so I had to add lines in
my .Xdefaults
file to fix the colors-- which confuses me because there were never
any color
lines there originally and it was fine...
And then my xterm windows wouldn't open.. until I got rid of the
line in my
.bashrc that said "export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0"
which was there before and didn't cause a problem--- And now
things are almost
ok--except that it seems that every other time I try to open an
xterm window,
it opens for 1/2 a second and then automatically closes immediately..
my new terminal command is set to:
xterm -e login -fp patrick
just as it was before I reinstalled x11.
does anyone have any idea why my terminal is behaving so different?
