I am trying to display on my Mac at home a colour graphic produced
under PV-WAVE on my SGI Unix machine at work. The program runs in
Pseudo colour depth 8, and displays perfectly when run and displayed
on my Unix machine. However, when I use ssh to access my Unix box
from my Mac using X11 under Tiger, the following message appears
Unsupported X Windows Visual Class: PseudoColor, Depth=8.
However, xdpyinfo on the Mac gives
supported pixmap formats:
depth 1, bits_per_pixel 1, scanline_pad 32
depth 4, bits_per_pixel 8, scanline_pad 32
depth 8, bits_per_pixel 8, scanline_pad 32
depth 15, bits_per_pixel 16, scanline_pad 32
depth 16, bits_per_pixel 16, scanline_pad 32
depth 24, bits_per_pixel 32, scanline_pad 32
depth 32, bits_per_pixel 32, scanline_pad 32
This suggests that X11 (Tiger) can operate in depth 8.
Can anyone offer help, please?
