You definitely don't need to reinstall the OS.
Either:
1. Run "Optional Installs" on your Mac OS X Install DVD and select
X11, or
2. Run the X11 installer by itself: /System/Installation/Packages/
X11User.pkg

I have recently upgraded to a core-duo iMac. I used the included

However, when I tried to launch the GIMP, I got an error that X-11
was not found. In fact it was not there. However, when I attempt to
install X11 from the most recent download, I get the error message
that there is "already newer software" on my computer, and X-11
won't install.
Anyone seen this before? What's the fix?
Do I have to re-install the system software (archive and install)
using the disk that came with the computer (this time including X-11)?
TIA
