NB: The reverse DNS is working fine.
As a general rule, it's far easier to use ssh's X11 forwarding
than to deal with xhosts and the $DISPLAY environment variable.
I agree with Bill. On Tiger you can issue ssh -Y username@system
and everything should just work. On Panther it's ssh -X
username@system. 'man ssh' for more information about those flags.
