G'day,

I've noticed the same thing recently. As yet, I haven't formed a theory about why it happens, but it does seem to be related to using other applications, then coming back to X11. Once one fails, then next and subsequent ones in the session don't seem to have a problem.

cheers,

Some of the time, apparently randomly, and without any explanation in any logfiles that I can find, my xterm windows in X11 start up and then go away. This has only happened so far when I'm using the "New" command from the File menu so far, although I always launch my xterms that way, so it's hard to say if that's a factor.
I know this has happened to other people on this list; I have yet to hear a good explanation for what is going on here. Somebody told me to use a different xterm program; I didn't like the one they suggested, and it's not too hard to just start another xterm when one fails, but I'd love to know what's going on.
