Some of the time, apparently randomly, and without any explanation in any logfiles that I can find, my xterm windows in X11 start up and then go away. This has only happened so far when I'm using the "New" command from the File menu so far, although I always launch my xterms that way, so it's hard to say if that's a factor.

The "File" menu of which application?
X11. File->New in X11 launches an xterm

Strange. I don't have a "File" menu in X11.app. Only "X11", "Applications", "Edit", "Window", "Help". What version is this?
