I don't know for how long you went backwards in the archive but
since the last announcement here on this list searching for
developers that help getting X.org 6.9/X.org 7.0 to compile and
afterwards to work on Darwin nothing that I has happened or changed
on this.

I had a working X.org 6.2 or so but afterwards I had to switch to
Apple X11 because of a common X-Server for all OpenOffice.org build
guys. X11 from Apple is what the "average" Mac OS X user most
likely installs if he has to install an X.
