The discussion about this on Apple's support site for this issue is
here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1874025
The solution referenced towards the end of the lengthy discussion is
here:
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060316124704289&query=x11
In short, there is a byte-ordering problem where they fail to convert
to host-byte ordering after receiving the cursor bitmap from the
network.
Good luck.

My research group just got several Intel Macs to replace our Linux
desktops. When setting them up we have run into this issue:
<http://lists.apple.com/archives/x11-users/2006/Mar/msg00061.html>
Namely, whenever we display a remote application from some x86
Linux machines (Ubuntu 6.06, RHEL3 or FC3), either using SSH
forwarding or NX, the mouse cursor is either yellow or white when
it should be black. This has the effect of making most
applications unusable.
I have tried using Fink and MacPorts versions of XFree86 4.5 and
X.org 6.8, but neither of them fix this problem. I've also tried
running Apple's X11 in Rosetta (since X11 runs another copy of
itself, I used lipo to strip the x86 portion of the binary), but
either I'm not capturing the right component, or it doesn't help.
I looked at compiling X.org 7.1 but I couldn't find any success (or
failure!) stories, and it looks like it would take me a while just
to get my head around the new build system - I never thought I'd be
wishing for Imake again, but at least the XFree86 system was easier
to get going...
Has anyone found and fixed this problem yet, or know of a workaround?
Thanks,
