Hi all, you will have to forgive the stupidity from here on in as I
am new to x11. O.k so I installed x11 and initially it ran fine.
Then I decided to change the window manager to window maker using
fink. All seemed to go well until i changed the xinitrc file and
now x11 wont start properly it just flicks on and off again and
outputs the following into the console.
XFree86 Version 4.4.0 / X Window System

_XSERVTransmkdir: Owner of /tmp/.X11-unix should be set to root

You've edited your .xinitrc file with TextEdit in Rich Text mode (or
a similar rich text editor). It has saved the file with RTF (Rich
Text Format) gobbledygook. You need to start fresh and only use a
plain text editor.
