Hello,
I've got a problem where I ssh into my Macbook using X11, OS X 10.4
(ssh -Y user@server) and find myself unable to open the MATLAB GUI
unless I run 'matlab -nojvm.' I am able to open OpenOffice, xclock,
and I can make plots with matlab in command line mode, but the
external editor and interface don't work. I've tried SSH in Cygwin
from my work computer and xterm on another mac.
So,
1) SSH into server, enabling X forwarding
2) run matlab: splash screen shows on client, MATLAB opens on server
(bounces in the dock)
3) splash disappears, MATLAB launches on server computer
4) xterm hangs on the client... no error message. hitting CTRL-C
doesn't quit.
5) I quit the client-side terminal, and MATLAB stays open on the server
I tried clicking on some text on the server box, and the client box
(Powermac G4) shows this error: "2007-07-29 04:17:44.422 MATLAB[5436]
CoreDragCreate error: -4960".
Forcing MATLAB to quit on the server frees up the unresponsive Xterm
that gave the CoreDragCreate error. But, plotting works fine with
'matlab -nojvm'. While in matlab, typing 'edit asdf' or some other
GUI tools gives errors like '??? Error using ==>openFileOnMac at 309
Could not find external editor'.
Weird.
An extra instance of MATLAB opens each time I try to open the GUI
(with java).
Any ideas? I searched the Apple lists for a solution to this problem,
but I didn't find anything.
/robert
