I have had really good success doing all my X11 stuff in
Parallels/Windows XP using the new StarNet Xwin-32. It has been
completely reformulated to use nx for everything and is the first X11
solution that allows me to do several full KDE desktops remotely (with a
70 ms latency) that is just like being there. Its the first time that
browsers, etc. are fast enough to actually use remotely.
The other advantage of this approach is that I have to work through a
VPN that is a captive tunnel. I set Parallels on my Mac Pro to use en1,
and thus the captive tunnel is only present on Windows. I can still do
things like listen to music streams in OS X without incurring the wrath
of the organization.
If you run Parallels, give this a try.
