Hi All,
I feel almost dirty asking about this since all discussions going on
here are all pertaining to X11/unix issues. Anyway, there's a nifty
text expansion utility I use on my Mac called TypeIt4Me - it allows
me to type abbreviations and it expands them into the full text on
the fly. Quite a time saver. Of course, unix is just brimming with
cryptic abbreviations and so in TypeIt4Me's preferences I tell it to
not perform expansions within the X11 application (and Terminal,
Console etc.). That application avoidance worked fine with Tiger's
X11, but under Leopard TypeIt4Me is acting upon text entered into
X11 and the side effects are way worse than just text being expanded
- windows are vanishing as I type and so forth.
It's possible that when I navigate to and select /Applications/
Utilities/X11 within TypeIt4Me's preferences as an application to
avoid that I'm not really pointing to the "real" X11 being run. Any
ideas if there's an alternate lower level X11 stored in some other
sneaky place, or is this a new bug?
Yeah, the "real" X11.app is /usr/X11/X11.app. Does pointing it at
that fix the problem?
