I appreciate the Makefile cleanup work!
XDarwin.app's fate is uncertain -- for the moment, it's safe to
disable it all (I actually did put in an --enable-xdarwinapp option in
configure.ac for that purpose) but I'm not yet comfortable outright
deleting it.
The reason you don't see the "real" Apple localization stuff is that
that is all done separately from the build process by some other group
at Apple -- I don't believe there's a whole lot there, but if you'd
like I can go ahead and add it to the git repo.
