This may, or may not, be useful to those encountering problems with X11 since upgrading to Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).

(1) I have removed the ~/.xinitrc file that I had created for Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).
(2) I have removed the DISPLAY variable from ~/.bash_profile used in Tiger.
(3) I have installed the updated libX11.6.dylib identified as a fix for Gimp.
(4) I have installed the updated Xquartz-1.2a8 binary.
(5) I removed X11.app from the Dock.
(6) I added X11.app to System Preferences>Accounts>Login items.

The last step appears to be necessary to get a window manager active to avoid a broken pipe when executing the following command from Terminal.app.

	slogin -X -Y -C -o TCPkeepalive=yes raid.my.domain.com

It appears that I will need to modify /etc/sudoers should I want to spawn WireShark from a Terminal.app window to eliminate the application from being blocked by the prompt for a password.

After Step (4), WireShark stopped crashing when it reached the end of the current capture pane. I had built WireShark from the MacPorts distribution prior to upgrading to Leopard. It hasn't been rebuilt.
