I spent most of today trying to isolate the cause of the "Xquartz
chews up 100% CPU when I run xauth / ssh / xdpyinfo" bug -- I believe
I fixed it.  The fix was made in libXtrans -- http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/lib/libxtrans.git;a=commit;h=cd1da5cec49fb7fe6238a00d9ba550b3ed78fa08

I know that my last big change from 1.2a9 (the stuck modifier fix)
didn't seem to fix the problem for anyone else, which suggests to me
that I goofed and uploaded the wrong binary.  (I had quite a bit of
difficulty getting 1.2a9 to work correctly, and rebuilt it 10 or so
times...)

So, I'd appreciate it if those who have continued to experience the
stuck modifier key issue would try this 1.2a10 -- Xquartz-1.2a10.bz2 -
and if that doesn't fix the problem, I'll add in some special
debugging code for 1.2a11.  And for the rest of you, this should
hopefully fix the 100% CPU problem -- if you haven't seen this
problem, the easiest way to trigger the bug (and test the fix) is to
run "xdpyinfo; xdpyinfo; xdpyinfo" from Terminal.app with X11.app not
already running.  If you land back at a shell prompt almost
immediately, you should be good to go.

Ben,

First off, I would like to thank you for the tremendous amount of work you are putting in this project, which (IMHO) has ironed out most of the problems/glitches of Leopard's new X11 (which I'm getting to like a lot!). I would just like to report a focus bug which was fixed by one of the previous Xquartz releases (I don't remember now but at least since 1.2a8, or perhaps even 1.2a7), which unfortunately has resurfaced with 1.2a10. Namely, if you:

1) Open a .tex file with Aquamacas Emacs (latest release, 22.1.50.1 (powerpc-apple-darwin7.9.0, Carbon Version 1.6.0)
 of 2007-10-02 on applecore.inf.ed.ac.uk - Aquamacs Distribution 1.2a)
2) Unset PDF mode (under Command > TeXing options), so as to generate dvi files
3) Click on the dvi button, to generate the corresponding .dvi file in xdvi (again, latest version 2.84.13-CVS15 (@(#)Motif Version 2.3.0, runtime version 2.3))

Then if you click on the dvi window repeatedly, the focus is transferred back and forth to the Aquamacs window! (Also, the widgets in the xdvi window's menubar are unusable).

I hope you get to fix this soon! (for the time being, I reverted to 1.2a9, which works for me).

Thanks again for everything,

Artemio
