I agree with everything you said except that. I'm not a Cocoa
developer, but I'm not aware of any of any of Apple's proprietary Apps
that have a completely open plugin architecture. I could be wrong
about that, but I'm certainly not wrong with regards to GPGMail and
Mail.app. From

You're spot-on with everything else, though. Kudos to Apple for every
step they take towards open-source transparency, open communication
