Xcode bug.  I sent a message to this list earlier today about it.  For
some reason Xcode sets DISPLAY=localhost and thus can't run any X
clients.  You can work around it by setting DISPLAY explicitly in the
"environment variables" section of the "custom executable" info
dialog.
