Hello Chris,

I try to answer to some parts of your questions:

Hello All,
I am a Solaris Admin and I just purchased my first
mac.It is a mini which is attached to my LCD TV. The
primary purpose was for FrontRow. I purchased the
2.0ghz with Superdrive, so I will also be able to turn
my media (pictures and video) into dvd's. I want to be
able to run my i* apps (idvd, imovie, iphoto) but on
my Linux/Solaris laptop.

This is a problem. The "iApps" are native Mac-Applications which does not use X11. Therefore the display is not exportable using X11. You can only use Apple Remote Desktop connection for this (and I don't know that there is a Linux/Solaris port for this). There is only the other way possible: Work on the Mac and use it also as X11-Server to run your X-Apps remote on your Linux/Solaris machines.

X Exporting Display: I have been able to ssh into the mac mini, export my display and launch x apps (located in /usr/X11/bin). The display is correctly exported back to my laptop running Suse. This fails when trying to launch apps under /Applications/..... The app will then display on the local display but not the remote one.

The Applications in /Applications/ are normally native Mac Applications and not X11 applications. X-Applications are normally installed in /usr/X11R6/bin or /sw/bin (if you have it from fink).

Best regards,

Volker
