XDMCP is not a bad idea for everyone in all circumstances.
For example, I administer several dozen NeoWare thin clients that
connect via XDMCP to one central server. I connect to the server
(currently via Xephyr) so that I can test and use the system the same
as any of the thin client users do. The thin clients are very, very
cheap. ~US$250 including mouse and keyboard. Without XDMCP the thin
clients wouldn't work, and without that XDMCP (or Xephyr) on Leopard,
I can't duplicate the environment of my users without going clear over
to the lab.
