That's what I was looking for! Unfortunately, I immediately ran into
problems:
1)
$ sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/org.x.X11.plist
launchctl: Error unloading: org.x.X11
This is strange but probably harmless. What this command does is write
a "disabled=true" key into that plist; you could achieve the same effect
by just deleting that file (or moving it aside)
I also ran into this yesterday. What I found was the unload command would fail (the
"disabled" key was in fact correctly written) but I'd get that error. So I ran load
rather than unload (the key was removed) then unload again, and at this point it ran
without error and the "disabled" key was written. Running unload a second time
produced the error I saw earlier. So the error message is unhelpful but somehow
meaningful.
