I know this will seem silly, but you can at least work around this
by putting a "wrapper script" some place, I suggest "$HOME/bin/
uxterm-blue.sh" or something, that contains:
#!/usr/bin/env bash
exec uxterm -sb -geometry 80x50+0+0 -sl 1000 -bg lightsteelblue3 -e
ssh -L8086:localhost:8086 lab1
Make sure it has execute permissions, then you at least have the
same functionality through a menu if you like. I'm not saying it's
great, but it's something.
Thanks for the suggestion Rich. I had quickly tried such a wrapper
but it didn't seem to work but it looks like my test was not done
correctly.
As this machine is the one I use daily I have been forced to revert to
Tiger's X11 and am happily working in it. I'm sure the new version of
X11 will have all of the issues resolved in due time. And as Mark and
others pointed out the code will be more reliable going forward.
