The only other thing I can think of is that in this step:
sudo rm /Library/Receipts/X11User.pkg
I had to adjust b/c this was a directory, not a file. So I had to do:
sudo rm -rf /Library/Receipts/X11User.pkg
Would that have caused a problem?
