Hi William,
Have you been able to find a simpler test case for this? I want to
look at this lockup tomorrow. If not, I'll install fink since coot
isn't in MacPorts.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Unless you already have fink, I would really hate for you to go to
all this trouble (there is about a gigabyte of dependencies) so it
might be easier for me to see if I can reproduce the problem with
something a little bit easier to install.
I use MacPorts, so that's a bit steep. I'll install coot via fink
when I get back from vacation if you are unable to get me a
simplified test case.
Do you launch it from a .app bundle? from within Terminal.app?
from the Applications menu? from an open xterm? Do you maximize
the initial window right when it appears to trigger the lockup?
The more information you can provide me the better.
I typically launch it the unix way from iTerm or Terminal.app, but
it doesn't seem to matter in my brief tests. I have to source the
environment script and path so the indirect approaches like the
Xmenu or applets require a bit of messing around. I also typically
launch it from within a screen session (/usr/bin/screen), but still
get the problem without that. The resizing freeze occurs when I
drag the bottom right corner of the window, or simply try to move
the window. There are lots of other things that seem to trigger
freezes, this one is simply the easiest to reproduce.
Thanks for the info. This hopefully now makes two stability issues
that I can readily reproduce. I'm going to study them more to see
if I can come up with fixes to incorporate into 2.2.0 (please test
the release candidate I sent out yesterday).
