GIMP & Inkscape - X11 Quartz quits unexpectedly

I upgraded from Mac OS 10.5.5 to Mac OS 10.5.6. I re-installed XQuartz 2.3.1. I tried to launch Gimp 2.6.2 and Inkscape (latest for the Mac) and X11 quits unexpectedly. Now, X11 seems in an INFINITE loop trying to launch.

System: PowerMac G5 with Dual Processor. 1.5GB memory, Mac OS 10.5.6 and XQuartz 2.3.1.

Gimp and Inkscape were working fine with 10.5.5 & 2.3.1
