256-color mode in X11 2.1.3

Hello,

We are running into a problem with 256-color mode in the newly updated X11 2.1.3. We have a program that requires X11 to be running in 256-color mode, but when we change the display (via X11-- >preferences) from "from display" to "256 colors", upon launch of the program (via terminal), we only get a blank screen (white). Is there any fix to this problem?
